Biddulphs
Removals & Storage S A (Pty) Ltd was established by the late Fred Biddulph
in 1928 in Harare, Zimbabwe. In 1966 the company established a South African
operation based in Pretoria. Since then the operation has been expanded
to all main centres in South Africa, and Biddulphs now have ten branches
in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and one in Botswana. All branches have
fully-staffed offices, vehicles and modern warehouses. Selected and trained
agents have also been appointed in other areas to supplement the branch
network. In addition, a separate specialist division
was established to undertake Overseas Removals. All branches are
equipped for overseas moving and the four main ports in South Africa are
utilised. These are situated in Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and
Johannesburg. Biddulphs has over the past few years developed wide experience
with the handling of contracts for large corporate companies.

Biddulphs International are members of:
- PMA

Our Johannesburg Branch is a member of the prestigious FIDI World-wide Moving Association based in Brussels,
which has a world-wide membership.
- BAR

- Unigroup Worldwide UTS which has over 1500 global service centers on six continents. Biddulphs are shareholders in and members of this prestigious organisation.

Membership of these
organisations ensures that the highest standards of service are upheld
in the removal industry. We hold the highly regarded
FAIM (FIDI Accredited International Movers) qualification.
It is a specialised accreditation based on ISO principles but directed
specifically at the international removals industry, and the standards
are being raised regularly. Re-audits are undertaken every two years. It is our intention to maintain this very high
standard of professionalism. As a privately owned, independent company
Biddulphs has a business philosophy of providing clients with an efficient
professional service at an economical cost. Biddulphs also has group certification for ISO 9001/2000 for its international Operations.

The Biddulphs management
team has an average of over 17 years' service in the company per person.
Besides the experience they have, all management personnel are in possession
of University of Johannesburg Road Transport Diplomas or Certificates and/or
are members of the Chartered Institute of Transport.

True to the Company's Affirmative Action Policy, staff are encouraged to
further themselves through studies and training. Staff can enter the diploma
courses at University of Johannesburg. Administrative staff are trained on various computer programmes.
Due to the fact that the company's fleet is nearly 100% Mercedes, technical
staff are sent for training at Daimler on a regular basis in order
to maintain the fleet to the high standards required by Mercedes. Previously
disadvantaged individuals are trained on the Adult Basic Education Training
programme in order that they can learn to read and write in English. Biddulphs
has built a customised training centre in Johannesburg and is the first
company to have its training programme for packers, porters and loaders
accredited by the Transport Education and Training Authority.
Apart from these courses,
in-house training is done on a regular basis in order that staff can remain
abreast of developments in the transport field.

The fleet ranges in
volume from rigid units of 10 cubic metres to double combinations of 140
cubic meters. The average age of the fleet is 4,5 years and is owned and
not leased. The majority of our fleet is Mercedes Benz.
All new trailers
are constructed with air suspension as a standard provision. This may
not be deemed to be unusual by European standards but in South Africa
it is very unusual, as most trailers have conventional springs which give
a harder ride.
All vehicles
have satellite tracking and all new vehicles have on-board computers for
monitoring and controlling, with older units being equipped with tachographs.
